The second co-initiator and organizer of the artos|ensemble|wien is the German double bassist Marius Gussmann. The passionate chamber musician can already look back on varied musical activities. During his studies in Hanover, Essen and Vienna, he worked as a freelance double bass player in orchestras and as a chamber musician: in addition to invitations of numerous chamber orchestras and festivals at home and abroad, or memberships in foundations such as the Young Musicians Foundation or the Podium of Young Artists, Gussmann also performed regularly in symphony orchestras, including the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf, the WDR Musikfest in Cologne, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria and as solo bassist in the Young Sound Forum of Central Europe. Concert tours have taken him to the major music centers of Europe, the Middle East and Asia, where he performed with great musicians such as Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Radek Baborák, Krzysztof Penderecki or Philippe Bernold. In addition to his orchestral play he also discovered his love for chamber music, which he pursues in brisk activity as numerous concerts at home and abroad as well as festival participations, for example at the Chamber Music Festival Lockenhaus under the direction of Gidon Kremer, occupy. Marius Gussmann plays on a master instrument by Andreas Wilfer, built for him in the year 2000.
